Who is “The Author“?
That’s a great question, and my answer is YOU.
You are always The Author.
But I didn’t make this website.
But you did decide to come here. You did decide what to wear today, what music to play, who to message today and thousands of other decisions.
All those decisions together make you The Author of your story.
Then who are you?
Me? I’m the author of my story, which includes this blog. I’ll tell you a secret. I’ve written this blog many times. I spent many hours writing, revising, and editing drafts. I took just seconds to delete every single one. Years later I realized, despite clicking delete, they never really go away.
My stories are always part of me.
But really, who are you?
Really, I’m just another person. On paper, my educational background is in finance and accounting. In practice, I work in information technology. In my heart, I am a writer, hence the inspiration for this site’s name. I grew up in the US, strive to live healthily, love learning languages, know more books than movies, and have always had at least one pet to greet me at home.
My mission here is to tell many stories. I’m starting with the one I know best. Maybe that’s the first bit I’ll pass onto you, a quote from Ray Dalio.
“While you can have virtually anything you want, you can’t have everything you want.”
Principles: Life & Work – Ray Dalio
I’m here to show you how I got from step 1 to step 2. Give it a try if you can. If that works, figure out what you want step 3 to be and then try something new. I’ll get to step 3 my way as well. It doesn’t make sense to compare yourself to me. We aren’t the same person and I don’t think you have the exact same goals, motives, morals, ideas, or skills as me. We have our own situations, advantages, and opportunities. But we can both be bold and pursue what we want, even in the smallest of ways.
Always,
The Author
